The app
Seawall doesn’t collect anything. It has no account, no analytics and no crash reporting.
- Your lists, schedules, settings and block history stay on your Mac, in
~/Library/Application Support/Seawall. - To block sites, Seawall reads the address of the open tabs in Safari, Chrome and other browsers that allow it. Addresses are checked on your Mac and never sent anywhere.
- A blocked tab lands on a page Seawall serves on your own Mac (127.0.0.1). That page keeps its small counters, like breaths taken, in your browser.
- When you add a site to a list, Seawall fetches that site’s icon once, from the site itself, and keeps it on your Mac.
- Once a day, Seawall fetches seawall.work/appcast.xml to see whether a new version is out, and downloads updates from GitHub. The request carries the app’s version and nothing about you. The site counts these checks by version and country, which is how we know roughly how many copies are in use. You can turn automatic checks off in Seawall’s Settings.
The source code is public, so you can check all of this on GitHub.
Buying Seawall
Payments go through Creem, the merchant of record. Creem collects your payment details, name, email and country, handles taxes, and sends your receipt, under Creem’s privacy notice. We never see your card. Creem shares your name, email, country and order with us, so we can send your license key, help you and make refunds.
We keep that for as long as you may need support or a refund and as long as the law requires, and we don’t sell it or use it for anything else.
This website
The site uses no cookies and doesn’t build profiles of visitors. When you click Buy or Download, the site counts the click with the button you used, your country and the site you came from, but not your IP address, then sends you on to Creem or GitHub. Downloads are served by GitHub, under GitHub’s privacy statement.
The demo menus on the home page run in your browser and send nothing.
